Accessibility statement
We want everyone to be able to use GiftListHuddle, including people who use a keyboard, a screen reader, magnification or voice control. This statement covers this website (giftlisthuddle.com), the GiftListHuddle web app at giftlisthuddle.com/app, and the GiftListHuddle browser extension.
Our standard
We aim to meet the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.2 at Level AA. We check this as part of building the site: every change runs automated accessibility checks, and a change that breaks them does not ship.
Where we are
Automated checks find no failures on the app screens, the public pages and the extension popup, in light and dark appearance and in every occasion theme, including text and control colour contrast. We have also tested by keyboard and at small screen sizes.
We have not yet finished testing with screen readers (VoiceOver, NVDA and TalkBack) or on real phones, so we cannot yet say that we fully meet the standard. We will update this statement when that testing is done.
What we have done
- The app can be used with a keyboard alone. A “Skip to main content” link is the first thing you reach, focus is always visible, and the tabs on the lists page work with the arrow keys.
- When a dialog closes, focus returns to the button that opened it. When you move to a new screen, focus moves to it, and each screen has its own page title.
- Results that appear without a page change, such as claiming a gift, saving a list or a finished price check, are announced to screen readers.
- Form fields have labels, sign-in and name fields say what they are for, and messages are not shown by colour alone.
- The main app screens reflow to a 320-pixel-wide screen (the same as 400% zoom on a desktop) without sideways scrolling, and the app stops its animation if you ask your device to reduce motion.
- Ads are labelled “Sponsored” in text.
Known limitations
- Screen reader and phone testing, described above, is not finished.
- The page title on a gift list or a huddle says “Gift list” or “Huddle”, not its name.
- Ads are supplied by Google. We label them, but we do not control how accessible their content is.
- Pictures of gifts that come from shops have no description, because the gift’s title is shown next to them.
- The extension was tested in Chrome. The Safari version uses the same screens but has not been tested with VoiceOver.
- Shops and other sites we link to are outside our control.
