Five is the age of vehicles, uniforms and stories with a punchline. Children starting school often want gifts that let them act out what they see around them: a police car on the road, a helicopter overhead, a racing driver in a go-kart.

The sets here are small and affordable, with age guides of 5 and over (plus one sold from 4), so they are easy to give as a main present or alongside others. For quieter moments there is a collection of funny stories written for five-year-olds and a Bluey sticker activity book. Prices were checked on 13 October 2026, and we have noted anything that is not a standard in-stock item on its card.

Questions people ask

What do 5 year olds like for Christmas?

Many like vehicles, characters from TV, building sets and stories. A mix of an active gift, like a LEGO vehicle, and a quiet one, like a sticker book, is a good balance.

Is LEGO City good for a 5 year old?

Yes. Most City sets are sold from age 5 or 6, use familiar vehicles and have clear instructions. Smaller sets are quick to build and easy to play with once finished.

How many gifts should a 5 year old get?

There is no rule, but a few small gifts often give more fun than one big one. The sets here are priced from under £10 to under £30, so you can mix and match.
